during my work at göbl architektur I developed an algorithmically generated form for the facade plates of the city hall of Herzogenburg, Austria
based on historical and artistic examples the aim was to create the look of crumpled paper
this was achieved by using a custom fractal brownian motion generator for creating a noise landscape and then adjusting the plate’s seams according to production and budget constraints
the plates were produced from perforated 3 mm thick alumnium by Fielitz Gmbh in Ingolstadt using hydroforming
